Become A Volunteer

Welcome, and thank you so much for inquiring about volunteering. Below is a list of our basic requirements for you to review. These will help you to decide if volunteering with The Portable Playhouse is right for you.
- You must have a positive personality and loving spirit.
- You must love working with children and or women.
- You must be available one morning per week, Monday-Friday, for approx. 45 weeks of the year.
- Basic craft/ beading skills are a plus.
- You must be female and over 25 years old.
Every volunteer is required by the hospital to complete their volunteer certification program, which includes:
- Health & Safety Program.
- Criminal Background Check.
- Updated Immunizations.
- Child life Training Program.
Once a volunteer has completed this, (just a few days over a couple of weeks), the fun begins. A playhouse “bead lady” works alongside the new volunteer, in the chosen pediatric ward / women’s center. We stay with the new volunteer until she is fully trained and comfortable working with the patients. All training and beading materials are provided by our organization.
